On the M-11, emergency response exercises were held simultaneously at 97 km, 214 km and 548 km, 643 km and 668 km. The largest exercises were conducted at 214 km in the Tver region.
The progress of the exercise at 214 km was observed by the Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, Lieutenant General Alexander Kurenkov, Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya, Chairman of the Board of the State Company "Russian Highways" Vyacheslav Petushenko, Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Russia in the Tver region Arsen Grigoryan.
To conduct the exercise, a realistic situation of an incident on the road is created, within the framework of which UTS employees practice their skills in interacting with emergency services and test their knowledge and skills in actions when such situations arise and eliminate them.
Thus, at 214 km of the M-11 road, UTS specialists (traffic safety inspectors, traffic management center operator and road worker), together with employees of Mostotrest-Service JSC, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, eliminated the consequences of a major accident. According to the scenario, a collision occurred between a passenger bus, a fuel tanker and two cars, blocking traffic on the highway towards Moscow, 15 people were injured, 5 people were killed. Some of the victims were taken to the hospital by air ambulances on board an MI-8 helicopter.
The task of UTS employees is to quickly respond to what happened, ensure the safety of emergency services employees and road users, and help in eliminating the consequences of the accident.
In total, about 80 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, road services, law enforcement officers and doctors, as well as about 20 pieces of equipment, were involved in the exercises.
“Accidents on federal roads are accompanied by serious consequences and significant congestion. This makes it difficult for emergency services to reach the scene of the incident. Since the beginning of this year, specialists from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have eliminated the consequences of over 13 thousand accidents on federal roads. Every year, more than 3,000 people become victims of such incidents and about 19 thousand are injured.
The experience gained in today's exercises will be taken into account in the work and extended to other regions of Russia. This will significantly reduce the time it takes to respond,” noted the Russian Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, Lieutenant General Alexander Kurenkov.
On behalf of UTS, we remind you that in case of an emergency on the road, do not panic, but call the single emergency number *2323 and emergency services specialists and traffic safety inspector will quickly come to your aid.
