UTS Traffic Safety Inspectors become victims of inattentive drivers

Operator of toll roads UTS launches the second safety campaign “Take care about yourself and life of Traffic Safety Inspector”. The social project is designed to protect company employees who, while providing assistance on the road, unwittingly become victims of inattentive drivers. Over the next months, the operator will organize special promotions for drivers, as well as media campaigns. Special information posters with photos of real Traffic Safety Inspectors will be placed in all point of sales, also warning messages will be broadcasted on electronic display.

According to UTS internal statistics, in 2018-2019 (from January 2018 to October 2019) , 24 vans of UTS Traffic Safety Inspectors suffered on operated by the company roads. The greatest damage was caused on the M11 Moscow-St. Petersburg Highway – almost 50% of accidents. M11 is the fastest highway with maximum allowed speed of 130 km/h. Almost 40% of accidents happened on M4 Don Highway and 10% - on M3 Ukraine.
The main reason of accident involving "yellow angels" is the carelessness of the drivers. They do not slow down and do not notice traffic safety inspectors during their work. In spite of life risk, 189 UTS Traffic Safety Inspectors (12 people on the M3, 89 people on the M4 and 88 people on the M11) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, help all drivers on toll sections of the roads in case of car breakdown, flat tire or feeling unwell while driving.

“UTS Traffic Safety Inspectors are different ages, they work on different roads, have different interests, but one thing is the same – their family waits for them at home. Mothers, wives, and children worry about the life of their loved one, because every day they take risks to ensure the safety of high-speed drivers. We are sincerely sorry when drivers do not follow the rules and create potentially dangerous situations, but even worse when those who come to the aid themselves become victims of inattentive drivers. By drawing attention to this problem, we hope to reduce their number”, - said Oleg Trofimov, UTS First Deputy General Director.

We remind you that if you saw a car on the road with a special emblem of UTS Traffic Safety Inspector’s service, or a person in a retroreflective vest, please treat his work with respect - slow down and, if possible, give a way on the road.
