UTS Traffic Safety Inspectors helped 22 380 drivers in the first half of 2022

In the first half of 2022 (from 1 January to 1 July) UTS traffic safety inspectors provided help to more than 22 thousand drivers on the toll sites of the roads, operated by the company. On M4 Don in Tula, Lipetsk and Voronezh regions 11 089 people asked for assistance, on M11 Neva in Moscow, Tver and Novgorod regions – 10 534 drivers and on M3 Ukraine in Kaluga region – 757 users.
  
The most common reason for calling traffic safety inspector is still a car breakdown (13,011 calls). The second position is shared by fuel shortages and road accidents. Moreover, drivers run out of fuel almost twice more often on M4 road than on M11 highway. The third “most popular” reason for calling traffic safety inspector is a stationary vehicle on the road.

Traffic safety inspector, on average, arrives to the call within 15 minutes, earlier than the police, ambulance, firefighters or other emergency services. First, the specialist sets up special cones and signs, enclosing a standing vehicle. A warning message is displayed on the electronic dashboard of TSI car, informing other road users. If necessary, traffic safety inspector can help to fix a broken car, change a wheel, provide first-aid medical or psychological assistance to the driver. 

"Based on the results of the work of the service for the first half of 2022, we can conclude that the number of traffic safety inspectors’ visits to stationary vehicles has increased significantly, namely by 77%. Typically, an operator from Traffic Management Center sees such a vehicle through cameras installed along all the sections we operate. He notifies the traffic safety inspector about this and he immediately comes to the driver and clarifies the reason for the stop. Drivers often say that they did not know about the rest areas, so they stopped just to relax. In such a situation, we once again remind all drivers that stopping even on emergency lane is incredibly life-threatening, and for rest you need to use special areas equipped every 20 km of the road”, said Oleg Trofimov, UTS General Director.
