The operator of toll roads UTS announces the launch of the safety campaign "Take care of your beloved - fasten your seat belts". The purpose of the social project is to draw the attention of drivers to the need to comply with traffic rules, including the use of a seat belt while driving.
According to the official statistics of the traffic police of the Russian Federation, over the past 5 years, every fifth participant in an accident in Russia was not wearing a seat belt. Although this is a direct violation of Art. 12.16 of the Administrative Offenses Code, and is punishable by a fine of 1 thousand rubles. In addition, the law provides for additional punishment for both the driver and all his passengers, including sanctions for transporting children in a car without a special seat and not fastened.
However, the internal UTS data confirm the official statistics of the traffic police. 3508 accidents occurred on the toll sections of roads operated by UTS only in the first 10 months of 2022. Among them, 1571 traffic accidents occurred on M4, 1708 on M11, and 229 on M3. The main cause of all accidents (40% of cases) was a collision with a stationary vehicle. Moreover, in 60% of fatal cases, the passengers or drivers were not fastened.
“On the part of UTS, we are doing everything possible to ensure that the roads we operate are as safe as possible for traffic, - by promptly displaying information about weather conditions and possible obstacles ahead on the road on the variable message signs, taking care of the roadway quality, and also providing 24/7 TSI's work. But, unfortunately, it is not in our power to force the driver and his/her passengers to fasten against their will, so we launched a safety campaign to remind the need to use a seat belt both for yourself and your children, " said UTS CEO Oleg Trofimov.
As part of the campaign, special posters will be installed on all sections of roads operated by UTS, and special warning messages will be broadcasted on VMS.
We also remind you that starting from this year, a single emergency number *2323 is valid to call traffic safety inspectors on all toll roads.
